Progress Stalled

October 17, 2024

sighhhhhh

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

Sorry about that, guys. I'm frustrated. Why? Because my publisher and project manager didn't tell me that the copyright application was separate from the package price to publish my book. They didn't tell me that I was going to have to pay hundreds of dollars more for the copyright and it's not even the lowest price! The price that they gave was only for the copyright for the US and Canada. The one globally was almost twice as much! That being said, it'll be a few  more weeks before "A Lost Soul" is out and it's up in the air about whether or not I will be continuing other publications with this publishing company in the future. There were tears and I'm frustrated but I'm trying to keep my head up, telling myself that it's only a setback.

Progress and Updates

October 5, 2024

So, first, I'd like to let everyone know that I just finished the editing process of "A Lost Soul" and will be moving forward with the formatting process starting next week.  I want to put out a special thank you to my project managers, Allen Parker and Hezron Smith. They have been a great help in the process and made sure that everything was explained to me clearly and thoroughly.

My next update is to give a special thank you to my friend, Michelle Edwards, writer of the paranormal series "Hunting the Night", "Midnight Defenders", and, the contemporary series, "Enlisted". She and her husband helped me and my family during the power outage caused by Hurricane Helene by taking us in for a week so that my girls had AC, hot water, and a hot meal. We know not everyone was fortunate enough to have friends or family in the area or just outside of town that were able to do that for them, which makes us all the more thankful. I wanted to offer a big thank you for not only that but for Michelle's help in getting things started with my newsletter, website, and so much more. You guys don't understand how grateful I am to her and her husband for everything they've done for us in just this past week. So, you guys, please, look into her books as well and show her the same support that she's been showing me.

The Progress of "A Lost Soul"

September 30, 2024

I am currently in the editing process of "A Lost Soul". The book has several chapters and I am about halfway through. I have an amazing editor that is working hard and keeping in touch at least two to three times a week. For those that don't know, the editing process is basically the editor reading through the chapters and making sure there are no major grammar, spelling, or punctuation errors. They then send the edits back to the author, who looks over the corrections to make sure there are no mistakes on the editor's end. It takes me a little longer to read over everything because, though I love reading, I'm a slow reader.

I also go through and make sure that I didn't make any mistakes on my end; i.e. contradicting something I wrote earlier in the book, later in the book. Even though I've read through this book a ton, I still find mistakes. These mistakes are normally due to the fact that this was the very first book I've ever written as a young author so it's been written, edited, deleted, rewritten, and edited again . . . a lot. This is honestly one of my favorite books that I have written out but, because it's the first book I've written, it seemed right that it'd be the first book to be published. It is also the first book to the series so I hope everyone looks forward to it.
